Maternity Portrait in Highlands Ranch

Maternity sessions have become one of my favorite portrait sessions to photograph. It’s about the baby bump and so much more. The celebration of life and telling the story of the journey is a once in a lifetime experience. I was so impressed with all the attention Eric and Heather put into their baby’s room. They don’t know if they are welcoming a little boy or girl, so a gender neutral theme was created. Eric, as it turns out, is the creative one. They bought furniture, stripped, painted and decorated it to match their theme. He painted the tree decals on the walls, all done with love. I can’t wait to meet their little bundle of love.

A New Year’s Eve Sanctuary Wedding – Matt + Jenny

New Year’s has so many meanings, to me it means finishing off the year by tying up loose ends and bringing in the new year filled with opportunity. I would say Jenny and Matt did just that. They tied the knot and went into the new year awaiting all it has to offer them. Their wedding at The Sanctuary, was such a beautiful and elegant affair. Jenny has this sweet sense about her that fills the room. Matt is her perfect match, he is a gentle man with a soft soul or as Jenny’s dad said, a “Southern Gentleman.” I hope you enjoy looking at the images as much as I enjoyed photographing the wedding. It was a wedding to remember and a perfect way to start the new year.

Matt and Jenny, enjoy your journey as a married couple.

Denver Wedding at Rocky Mountain Presbyterian Church – Brandon + Tkale

Brandon and Tkale had their Denver wedding at Rocky Mountain Presbyterian Church. With a reception to follow at Noah’s, a new event center. Brandon and Tkale chose to see each other before the ceremony. I loved their reactions to seeing each other during their “first look.” I could feel excitement and butterflies coming from both of them. The moment they saw each other the butterflies dwindled and the excitement grew. Tkale and Brandon were up for anything and everything when it came to photos. They braved the cold and gave us the opportunity to capture some incredible photos. Tkale and Brandon, I wish you much love and happiness on your journey in life.

Every year it’s my tradition to experience getting my picture taken, just like my clients. My husband, Dzifa, has become such a trooper in making it happen. He goes along with what to wear, where to be and smiling all at the same time. My son, Jayden, seems to be a natural at this too. I think he caught on after I did a photo shoot of him every month for the past year.

LDS Denver Temple Wedding

Todd and Kathryn got married at the Denver Temple on a very chilly November day. Kathryn was a beautiful bride from the inside out! She had the most incredible custom designed dress, which she just glowed in. Todd made a very handsome groom too. One thing stands out when I think about Kathryn and Todd – family. They have a lot of it and they are so close to everyone. They said they had big families, they weren’t joking. The brothers, sisters, parents, grand parents, children etc. were all so kind and loving to each other. Kathryn and Todd have some wonderful role models to look up to as they begin their married life as husband and wife. Thank you for having Van Buren Photography photograph your wedding here in Denver! Destination Engagement Session | Baltimore, Maryland – Jeff + Lauren

I am a travel bug at heart, so I couldn’t wait to head to Maryland for Lauren and Jeff’s engagement session. It seems we have a lot in common. I love fall, if I could freeze a moment in time it would be on a fall day. They are dog lovers too! As you have seen in my own posts I am a complete softy for furry creatures. Lauren got exactly what she hoped for, a wonderful fiance and a perfect fall day. We had so much fun cruising around a park in Baltimore called Centennial Park. If I lived in Baltimore, I would be spending a lot of time at that park. We did have to do a little bit of dog wrangling, but all in all the pups were happy to be included. We decided on a destination engagement session since Lauren and Jeff lived out of state. They will be getting married at The Sanctuary in Colorado next year, so we thought mixing it up would be fun. I love the East coast feel of the last set of images. We walked through a quaint little town called Annapolis. I can’t wait for the wedding celebration in Denver next year.

Denver Newborn Portrait Photography – Little Maximus

Newborn babies are so precious and little Maximus was no exception. Maximus was 5 days old when we photographed his newborn portrait session in Denver. That is such a perfect age for newborn sessions. Babies are still sleepy and so curly. Look at how many different poses and outfit changes he slept through. I had too many favorite images from his newborn session, so I had picked nine to share.

Denver Engagement Session – Phil + Meghan

Meghan and Phil are a dynamic couple filled with energy. They are both easy going, athletic, funny and playful. If their engagement session is any sign of what’s to come, their downtown Denver wedding is going to be a blast. It’s no secret that I am a big dog lover, so I couldn’t resist capturing their boxer Maverick too! I love how many places there are to take photos in downtown Denver. Meghan and Phil I can’t wait for the wedding in July!!
